Emergency services have been called to the scene of a serious crash in Woldingham this morning (February 27). Police, paramedics and firefighters all rushed to Woldingham Road at around 9.30am after the collision, which involved two cars. Surrey Police believe a number of people have been injured in the crash and a tweet from the force said there were "several casualties". The road has been closed. A Surrey police spokeswoman said: "Surrey police is an attendance at a serious collision which happened at around 9.30am in Woldingham. The collision, which occurred in Woldingham Road involved two cars. It's believed that a number of people have been injured. A number of fire and ambulance crews are also at the scene." The M23 has been closed between Junction 8 for the M25 and junction 9 for Gatwick Airport in both directions. Highways England shut the busy motorway to allow UK Power Network engineers to repair a damaged overhead power line. The closure is causing severe delays in both directions and is likely to have an impact on roads in the surrounding area.
