It inspired him to start Love in the Mirror, which provides disadvantaged youth with basic necessities like food, clothing, and learning materials. His organization has helped over 45,000 families through fundraising and donations! Meet Chris Meet Chris Chris saw rising crime rates and failing school systems in his hometown (Kinston, NC) and decided to do something about it. After meeting with the mayor about his concerns, Chris founded the Kinston Teens Inc., which gives teens pride in their community while also giving them leadership and community service opportunities! Meet Lillian Lillian's organization is Vision For and From Children! After dealing with her own eyesight problems, she wanted to find a way to give more children the eye care they need, but can't always receive. Since 2011, the Mary Seacole Hall’s I’m Glad I’m a Girl Foundation through its Summer Camp has embarked on a project to engage teen girls between the ages of 13-17 years by educating them about their rights as children and empowering them through conversations about their Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights. The camp uses a Safe Space Model and through empowerment activities and information-sharing activities. This programme helps girls to deal with the difficulties of the turbulent teen years, and life in a Jamaica that is rife with childhood sexual abuse and sexual harassment. In 2016 alone, in the span of one week, four (4) high school teachers in Clarendon were charged with child molestation and sexual harassment. Expo Jamaica 2016 will be the Jamaican Business Bridge to the World April 14 – 17 2016, Expo Jamaica, the largest biennial trade-show of the Caribbean hosted by the Jamaica Manufacturers Association (JMA) and the Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA) in partnership with JAMPRO will unveil its 45th and most elaborate staging to date. Largest Expo in the Caribbean Conceptualized under the theme ‘The Business Hub of the Caribbean’, Expo Jamaica 2016 will showcase all things Jamaican in Manufacturing, Agriculture, Tourism and Services in its expanded home which in addition to the National Arena, will now include the National Indoor Sports Centre. This expansion will result in 90 more booth spaces becoming available to enterprising Jamaican trade professionals. This move is in an effort to meet the growing number of exhibitors and the variety of products and services. This expansion will be further enhanced by the recently announced Government initiative to undertake a JA$60 million refurbishing of the National Arena, a cost that will be split equally between the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Tourism Enhancement Fund. The JMA/JEA are pleased that this investment in the facility comes at a time when Expo Jamaica is expanding. The announced upgrade will better suit the increased number of buyers, exhibitors and patrons who are expected to attend the show. It will also undoubtedly assist the Expo’s goal of advancing Brand Jamaica and ultimately national export performance.
