The Politics of Reconstruction: Gaza, the EU, and Palestinian Governance

Live blog from the House of Lords, of a seminar organised by MEMO and the EuroPal Forum. The aim of the seminar is to arrive at recommendations for concrete actions to rectify the stagnation in reconstruction in Gaza causing enormous suffering. These recom-mendations will be collated into an open letter to be sent to some key European governments including the UK leadership.

Parliamentary Debate: The UK's role in preventing conflict in Gaza

Michael McCann MP, vice-chair of Labour Friends of Israel, will be leading a parliamentary discussion on the British role in preventing conflict in Gaza. Ben White, Jessica Purkiss and Yasmina Allouche will be live blogging this parliamentary session on February 25th, from 2.30pm GMT.

Egypt's human rights record

On 5 November 2014, Egypt is to have its human rights record considered by the United Nations Human Rights Council. In the four years since Egypt’s last Universal Periodic Review (UPR), the state has undergone great changes. Firstly, a popular protest led revolution which toppled Mubarak’s dictatorship, resulting in the first democratically elected leader in Egypt’s history. Secondly, a violent military coup that led to unprecedented repression and human rights violations. Jessica Purkiss will be live blogging the UPR of Egypt at the UN from 8am - 11.30 (9am - 12.30 local time), from our office in London. Amelia Smith will be live blogging the press conference from the Geneva Press Club, from 1pm (2pm local time) onwards. The conference will respond to the findings of the UPR.

UK Parliament - Vote to recognise the State of Palestine

Israel's Crimes in Gaza during Operation Protective Edge – Extraordinary session of the Russell Tribunal
