Welcome to the panelist discussion on the first GOP primary debate. Tonight, I will be joined by four panelists (Kate, Ryan, Trevor, and Tyler) as we discuss the candidates, the issues, and the performances. Feel free to comment on our thoughts; we appreciate feedback! The five of us will be taking anonymous nicknames as well. You won't know who is who. This is to help each of us feel free to speak freely.

Fox News' debate criteria is the the top 10-candidates, as determined by the five national polls of Fox News' choosing will be invited to the stage. At this writing, top runners including Donald Trump, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who has surged off his late-July announcement, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are competing for one of the two remaining spots on the stage.
