RECAP: Guard of honour to take place today in tribute to 10-year-old Palace fan Christy Jordan - updates

A beautiful tribute is planned this morning ahead of the funeral of a Croydon schoolboy who fought a courageous battle against a brain tumour. Chirsty Jordan passed away at his Shirley home last Wednesday (May 10) having been diagnosed with the tumour on Christmas Eve 2015. A pupil at St Thomas Becket Catholic Primary School, in Woodside, 10-year-old Christy was a Crystal Palace fanatic and a keen member of Beccehamian RFC, known as "Beccs", who play in West Wickham. The rugby club's coach Danny Kemp, with the full approval of Christy's family, has organised a guard of honour for the schoolboy before his funeral. In a post on the club's website Mr Kemp said: "Having visited the family at home they have decided that before going to the mass, their wish is that Christy's final journey will include driving past his loved Beccs. "As a mark of respect, and to do the gesture justice, we are planning to recognise this by forming a guard of honour with as many people as possible for the drive-by procession." Attendees have been asked to wear club kit if they have it and be in place along the road by 9.10am with the procession expected to arrive at 9.15am. With permission from the family, we'll be bringing you live updates as friends and relatives of Christy gather together to pay tribute to him.
