COMING UP TODAY - Neil talks to Yvonne who has recently returned to Ireland after emigrating to Australia. Although she is working here, she is finding it very difficult to make ends meet and because she was out of the country for the last few years, she is getting no help from the state or city council with her situation. She and her 4 kids have been sleeping on couches since December and relying on the charity of family and friends. Neil talks to Dave a former resident of Vincent’s hostel in Cork city. Dave has been homeless on the streets of Cork and have battled substance and gambling addiction. He says that a recent TV3 documentary filmed in Vincent’s called “The Homeless Shelter” does not accurately reflect his experience of the facility. Neil talks to Paula Murphy whose story we highlighted on Monday’s show. She was looking to get the NCT report into the car her daughter Amanda lost her life in but was told she was not entitled to it for “data protection reasons”. Following her call on Monday, the RSA have intervened and instructed the NCT to release all documents relating to the car Amanda was driving. Finally Neil talks to Anne (52) who is currently on a CE scheme. She says she has sent out over 300 CVs looking for jobs in the clerical / admin field but has received no replies. She maintains this is because of her age.
