Live updates as Storm Doris hits Essex
Storm Doris is set to bring high winds, heavy rain and possibly even snow to Essex today (February 23). The Met Office had initially issued a yellow 'be aware' warning for very strong winds in the East of England between 6am and 6pm on Thursday. But this has now been upgraded to an amber 'be prepared' warning. Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected widely across the region but a small swathe of even stronger winds may develop on coasts and hills. There are heavy delays on the Dartford Crossing and a chance of closure later today because of the storm.
