Live Blog: Toronto FC vs. Montreal Impact

Three days ago, in the Canadian Football League, a massive upset took place at BMO Field in Toronto, Ont. when the Ottawa REDBLACKS gave Canada's national capital its first Grey Cup in four decades with one of the greatest upsets in the history of that competition against the Calgary Stampeders. From gridiron to soccer pitch Mauro Biello's Montreal Impact, the No. 6 seed in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference, have a chance to make some history of their own and lay an upset over the favorite, Greg Vanney's Toronto FC at this same venue on Wednesday, Nov. 30. However, Toronto FC only lost to the Impact, 3-2 in the first leg and need a simple 1-0 win or a two-goal victory in any form to progress. Should they finally turn the tide in their own back yard, BMO Field will have distinct honor of hosting a Grey Cup Final and an MLS Cup Final within the span of two weeks. It would also be the first MLS Cup Final hosted at BMO Field since 2010. But if the Impact hold on to their advantage and even build on it, they would get honor of traveling to the West Coast and one of the loudest, rowdiest, passionate, energy-filled atmospheres you will ever find in this competition. Brian Schmetzer's Seattle Sounders had already disposed of the Colorado Rapids 3-1 on aggregate, winning both legs, and a Montreal win will ensure Seattle of hosting its first MLS Cup since 2009, one year prior to BMO Field hosting. Finally, national bragging rights are on the line on Wednesday. Toronto FC have already won the Canadian Championship and will be in the CONCACAF Champions League next season. However, Montreal will be sure to put that reputation to the test and it is up to the Reds to confirm that they are the best Canadian team in Major League Soccer this year.
