Malaysia protests - LIVE

Thousands are expected to flood the streets of Malaysia's capital city Kuala Lumpur today in a mass protest demanding key democratic reforms and the resignation of their Prime Minister Najib Razak. Najib has been overseeing Southeast Asia's fourth largest economy for two terms since he was appointed to the post in 2009, and is now looking to looking to win re-election next year. His detractors, however, believe he is responsible for the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) controversy, a financial scandal involving billions of dollars worth of state funds that is now the subject of numerous international probes and a U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit.
