Live Coverage! Turning the Consumer Student into the Engaged Student
Join us from 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, for live coverage of 'Turning the Consumer Student into the Engaged Student' from the American Association of Colleges and Universities conference in New Orleans. The workshop will wrestle with the growing trend toward students, parents, employers and policymakers viewing higher education as a commodity that is price-sensitive and focused on outcomes. While most educators think the consumer mentality has hurt the process of higher education, the workshop will offer faculty and administrators ways to turn the trend to their advantage. Participants will work on small groups to consider the subject-matter and academic-major dimensions of student engagement. The main presenters at the workshop will be: Christopher Campbell, dean of academic affairs and operations at South University of Richmond, Va., and Mark Braun, provost and dean at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Follow along and join the conversation with us on Thursday!
